As the name suggests, this class is for all experience levels — from beginners to advanced practitioners. While we offer a Fundamentals program specifically for brand-new students, the All Levels class is also an excellent fit for beginners who come from competitive athletic backgrounds such as wrestling, football, hockey, or other physically demanding sports.
These athletes often adapt quickly to the pace and intensity of live training, and our class structure ensures they receive the necessary context and foundational instruction to succeed safely and effectively.

Training Philosophy
How Skill Is Built
Learning Jiu Jitsu requires repetition — but static repetition alone is rarely enough to develop real, usable skill. That's why our classes emphasize a blend of technical drilling and live, goal-oriented training.
We use positional rounds to help students apply newly learned techniques in realistic situations. These rounds encourage problem-solving, adaptability, and timing — the key elements that separate memorization from actual skill development.
Class Structure
How Each Class is Organized
A typical All Levels class is divided into three primary phases.
Technical Instruction & Drilling
First 30 minutes
Students learn and drill techniques related to the weekly theme, focusing on correct mechanics and core concepts.
Live Positional Rounds
Students begin training from specific positions tied to the technique of the day, reinforcing learning through controlled resistance.
Live Sparring
Second half of class
Full live rounds begin. The coach may participate in rounds, answer questions between rounds, or actively coach newer students from the sidelines.
This structure allows advanced students to sharpen their game while ensuring newer students receive guidance when they need it most.
Teaching Approach
Why We Use Primers
Most weekly sub-themes begin with a short positional primer at the start of class. This is intentional. People rarely retain information they only see once or twice. By repeatedly reinforcing the most important elements of a position, students develop a deeper understanding and a stronger foundation to build their personal Jiu Jitsu game.
When advanced movements are taught — such as inverting — classes are intentionally structured to build the necessary foundation first. This ensures a smoother learning process and helps prevent frustration or confusion for newer students.
The Technical Framework
The Four Categories of Jiu Jitsu
All Jiu Jitsu techniques fall into four interconnected categories. A typical class touches on all four, each given equal importance.
Grip Fighting
Where to place your hands, feet, knees, elbows, and head to control space, create pressure, and prevent your opponent from advancing.
Creating Openings
Quick, efficient movements designed to provoke reactions and force mistakes.
The Punish
Capitalizing on your opponent's reactions through sweeps, passes, submissions, or positional advancements.
Finish & Retention
Successfully completing a technique and maintaining control afterward. Finishing a move and holding the resulting position are inseparable skills.
